STARKVILLE, Miss.—For the third consecutive year, Mississippi State University Libraries are sponsoring the E. O. Templeton Jr. History and Genealogy Fair.
Open to all, the popular event takes place 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. June 4 at Mitchell Memorial Library, the 138-year-old land-grant institution’s primary academic and research repository.

This year’s featured speakers include:
—Shirley Hanshaw, an MSU associate professor of English;
—Hellen Polk, a retired Starkville educator representing the Mississippi Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution; and
—Chuck Yarborough of Columbus, a social sciences faculty member at the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science and director of the city’s annual Friendship Cemetery “Tales from the Crypt” program.
Also scheduled are two hands-on workshops led by MSU manuscript specialists. Senior associate DeeDee Baldwin will provide a beginner-level guide for online research, while coordinator Jennifer McGillan and special guest Betty Templeton of Starkville teach an advanced class on decoding family stories.
Exhibits by local genealogical clubs and societies will be on display, and tours of Mitchell Memorial exhibitions and the Special Collections department will be available.
