'Super successful teacher' to share tips

A classroom teacher who has gained international prominence as a motivational speaker will offer tips to some 700 teachers convening Oct. 17 at Mississippi State University.

Harry K. Wong of Sunnyvale, Calif., leads a 9 a.m.-3 p.m. seminar at the Bost Extension Center. His topic is "How to be a Super-Successful and Effective Teacher."

His visit is sponsored by the Starkville School District, along with the College of Education's Partnership for Research and Evaluation in the Public Schools (PREPS) and the university's Division of Continuing Education.

Author of "The First Days of School," a best-selling book on classroom management, Wong has spent more than 30 years as a teacher. He and his students have won numerous awards.

Wong's teaching methods have gained recognition for a 95 percent homework turn-in rate and a zero dropout rate. He has given more than 3,000 presentations in every U.S. state and Canadian province, as well as throughout South America, Asia, Africa, Europe, and Antarctica.
