STARKVILLE, Miss.--Alumnus Zack Harrington joins the Mississippi State fundraising team this month as assistant director of development for the university's College of Business this month.
A Hattiesburg native, he holds two degrees from the college: a 2009 bachelor's in business administration with an emphasis in real estate mortgage finance and 2010 master's in sport administration.
As an undergraduate, he was a quarterback during the 2006 and 2007 seasons for the Bulldog football team.
Jack McCarty, executive director of development for the MSU Foundation, said Harrington brings to the position "a deep appreciation for Mississippi State and a strong background in sales."
Previously, Harrington worked with SERVPRO Cleanup Services, where he received two awards for finishing first in direct sales volume among all Mississippi representatives. Earlier, he was employed by Mediterranean Shipping Co. in Charleston, South Carolina, and interned for two years in Vienna, Virginia, with ICS SERKA, a major provider to the U.S. government of construction, industrial and logistical services.
"Zack is a great fit for this important fundraising position with the university's business college and we are happy to welcome him back into the Bulldog fold," McCarty said. "We believe he is well-equipped for the challenge of securing private gifts on behalf of the business college and our university."
Harrington said he is happy to return to his alma mater as a development professional.
"I believe in the importance of giving back to institutions that shape who we become, and I am eager to help spread the vision of Mississippi State University as we continue to maintain excellence and open new doors for alumni and friends to help our university move forward," he said.
Harrington joins Rob Jenkins, a veteran fundraiser and fellow alumnus who is the college's director of development. Together, they will be working to secure major gifts for the major academic unit and its Richard C. Adkerson School of Accountancy through MSU's ongoing capital campaign known as Infinite Impact.
One of the oldest in the Southeast, the College of Business will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2015. In recent years, its MBA program has been listed in U.S. News & World Report's Top 100 Graduate Business Programs.
The college is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the world's leading credentialing organization for business schools. For additional details, see www.business.msstate.edu.
