Roger R. Summerour of Lucedale (l) and Ed Gholston of Starkville are being honored for long years of service and dedication to the Mississippi State University Alumni Association. The two, along with Samuel T. Stacy of Vicksburg, recently received distinguished service awards at the association's annual awards banquet on campus. Summerour is a 1973 chemical engineering graduate now working with CIBA Specialty Chemicals. Gholston, a 1942 and 1947 graduate, is a retired agronomist who formerly led the Soil Testing Laboratory at MSU.

LUCEDALE EDITOR:

Summerour is a former president of the alumni association's George-Greene counties chapter that led in endowing two scholarships for local students attending MSU. Under his leadership, the chapter has amassed an impressive collection of major alumni association awards. He also is a Patron of Excellence in the MSU Foundation who has personally endowed an athletic scholarship and been especially active in promoting MSU summer tennis camps.

STARKVILLE EDITOR:

Gholston is a Patron of Excellence in the MSU Foundation, member of the Bulldog Club and founder and scholarship chairman of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences-affiliated Ag-100 Club. He has served as treasurer and scholarship chairman for the Oktibbeha County alumni chapter and been honored with its alumnus of the year award. Additionally, Gholston and his wife Lorene have established a scholarship for students in farm-related fields of study.
