STARKVILLE, Miss.--Eighteen top students are leaders of the 2014 orientation programs at Mississippi State.
Working with the Office of Admissions and Scholarships, team members provide assistance and share their knowledge of the university with incoming freshman and transfer students--and their parents--during various registration and information sessions.
Selection of orientation leaders involves a rigorous screening process; more than 50 students applied for this year's positions.
The 2014 MSU Orientation Leaders include (by hometown):
ALAMO, Tenn.--Junior Kailey H. Rigby, a biochemistry major and the daughter of Christopher and Pamela Rigby. She is a 2011 Crockett County High School graduate.
BRANDON--Sophomore Joshua T. "Josh" Polk, a business administration major and the son of Thomas Polk and Stephanie Welborn. He is a 2012 Brandon High School graduate.
CANTON--Junior Marshall G. Scruggs, a biological sciences major and the son of Ralph and Sarah Scruggs. He is a 2011 graduate of Jackson Preparatory School.
CHATHAM--Junior Caitlin King, an elementary education major and the daughter of George and Lisa King. She is a 2012 graduate of Washington School.
COLLIERVILLE, Tenn.--Junior Anna M. Warren, an educational psychology major and the daughter of Lance and Helen Warren. She is a 2011 graduate of Houston High School.
CORDOVA, Tenn.--Sophomore Grace A. Wegener, a kinesiology major and the daughter of Curtis and Pat Wegener. She is a 2012 Briarcrest Christian High School graduate.
CORINTH--Junior Nakesha Y. "KeKe" Grayson, a social work major and the daughter of Mary Grayson. She is a 2011 Corinth High School graduate.
FOREST--Sophomore Keri S. Jones, a kinesiology and biological sciences double-major and the daughter of Alonzo Jones and JoAnn Frazier. She is a 2012 graduate of Morton High School.
GRENADA--Sophomore Karen H. Chan, a communication major and the daughter of Wallace Chan. She is a 2012 Grenada High School graduate.
HATTIESBURG--Sophomore Lauren R. Tedford, an elementary education major and the daughter of Sonny and Lynn Tedford. She is a 2012 Presbyterian Christian High School graduate.
LONG BEACH--Senior Katharine A. "Katie" McCummins, a psychology and political science double-major and the daughter of Robert and Christine McCummins. She is a 2011 Long Beach High School graduate.
MADISON--Talla Cisse, a political science major, the son of Saloum Cisse and a 2012 Madison High School graduate; and Lauren E. Iupe, an elementary education major, the daughter of William and Terri Iupe and a 2012 Madison Central High School graduate. Both are sophomores.
NEW ALBANY--Sophomore McKinley Ranager, an art major, the daughter of Cecil and Tana Ranager and a 2012 graduate of New Albany High School; and senior Summer P. Smith, a communication major, the daughter of Terrie Bagwell and a 2009 graduate of East Union Attendance Center.
OLIVE BRANCH--Sophomore Matthew C. "Matt" DeBerry, a management and marketing double-major and the son of Michael and Linda DeBerry. He is a 2012 graduate of Northpoint Christian School.
RIDGELAND--Sophomore Millie A. Adams, a finance major and the daughter of Richard and Amy Adams. She is a 2012 graduate of Ridgeland High School.
STARKVILLE--Sophomore Robert W. "Rob" Montgomery, a secondary education major and the son of Robert and Jennifer Montgomery. He is a 2012 graduate of Starkville High School.
