Supplies continue to be needed to fill backpacks headed for children in Afghanistan as part of Maroon Edition outreach projects this fall.
Adele Crudden of social work, who has helped coordinate the effort through the nonprofit Lamia Afghan Foundation, said that to fill current backpacks, she estimates the following items still are needed:
--200 packs of notebook paper
--170 notebooks
--1200 pencils
--150 pencil sharpeners
--200 erasers
--170 colored pencil packs
--150 scissors
The Welcome Center has volunteered to be the drop-off point for donated supplies. Crudden encourages individuals and groups to provide any of the items possible, and to contact her at crudden@ra.msstate for more information.
