MSU Libraries' speaker series features Wiseman

For the first fall semester installment of the Morris W.H. (Bill) Collins Speaker Series, Mississippi State University Libraries will host Starkville Mayor Parker Wiseman [Thursday] Sept. 16 at 3 p.m. in the Templeton Conference Room of Mitchell Memorial Library.

The Collins Speaker Series brings leading figures of the day to campus to engage in close, personal discussions about their lives and careers.

Wiseman received his elementary and secondary education from the Starkville public schools, graduating from Starkville High School in 1999. He attended MSU on the John C. Stennis Scholarship and, in 2002, was elected president of the Student Association.

Wiseman attended graduate school beginning in 2003 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a master's degree in public administration from the School of Government. He earned a juris doctorate at the University of Mississippi, serving during his tenure there as president of the Law School Student Body. In July of 2009, he was elected Starkville's mayor.

The Morris W.H. (Bill) Collins Speaker Series is sponsored by MSU Libraries, MSU's John C. Stennis Institute of Government, the Stennis Center for Public Service, The Congressional and Political Research Center, and the Stennis Montgomery Association.
