Media on the Mississippi State University campus Wednesday [Sept. 29] for the visit by Lt. Gen. (Ret) Russel Honore are asked to adhere to a few guidelines.
Honore, commander of the Joint Task Force Katrina, helped lead recovery efforts on the Gulf Coast after the destructive storm. Labeled "one John Wayne dude" by former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, Honore has garnered many awards including the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star.
He will speak at 5:30 p.m. in Lee Hall's Bettersworth Auditorium and deliver a presentation titled "See First, Understand First, Act First: Leadership and Preparedness in the 21st century." A media session precedes from 3:45 to 4:00 in Colvard Union Room 231.
Media wishing to cover the visit should be aware of the following requirements:
--Availability for print and broadcast media, 3:45-4 p.m., Room 231, Colvard Union. Media credentials will be verified outside the room before entrance.

--Brief availability for print and broadcast media at the 5:30 p.m. event in Bettersworth Auditorium. Video/audio taping and flash photography will be permitted during the first three minutes of the program. Honore will be unavailable for post-event media activities.
Members of the audience are not permitted to videotape, audiotape, or use flash photography during any part of this program.
