In conjunction with the National Cyber Security Awareness Month, MSU is hosting Cyber Security Awareness Week Oct. 19-22.
The Internet is full of criminals trying to trick you into revealing your password, identity information or worse. In addition, the dangers of file sharing have been seen at MSU and other universities, as college students have been sued for file sharing. During Cyber Security Awareness Week, expert speakers will provide valuable information you can use to protect yourself and increase your knowledge of security. Also, a Residence Hall Association-sponsored Cyber Security poster contest will be displayed in the Colvard Student Union, along with information booths. T-shirts and other items will be given away at events while supplies last.

--Oct. 20--Dr. Donald Fingleton, U.S. Department of Energy Counterintelligence Training Academy, "Confessions of an Exploited Scientist," Office of Research and Economic Development Seminar Series, Hunter Henry Center, 2-3 p.m.
--Oct. 21--Brandon Lee Ogburn, special assistant attorney general, Mississippi Cyber Crime Fusion Center, "An update on Cyber Crime in the State of Mississippi," Fowlkes Auditorium, Colvard Student Union, 2-3 p.m.
In addition, visit the information booths on the first floor of the union, Oct. 19-22, 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. each day. The residence hall security poster contest winners also are on display in the union.
Also, Introduction to Computer Forensics classes will have crime scene takedown exercises open to the public in Suttle Hall.
