STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State University is participating during October in the Society of American Archivists' "Celebrating the American Record" program.
Organized by the university's library system and its special collections department, a series of historical exhibits mark the campus observance of National Archives Month.
"Living History in MSU Libraries' Special Collections" is the title of the varied displays in Mitchell Memorial Library's Information Mall. Spread throughout the second-floor lobby, the selected photographs, documents, personal correspondence, and other archival material are designed to chronicle the Magnolia State narrative.
"Our 'Living History' exhibit provides a special opportunity for students, faculty and staff members, Golden Triangle residents, and those from elsewhere to revisit the state's history and appreciate the availability and importance of archival material," said Ryan Semmes.
"We are excited to participate in National Archives Month and share with the public some of the many collections of the MSU Libraries," added the archivist with the Congressional and Political Research Center, which also is located in Mitchell.
