Scholars Recognition Day and all athletic events scheduled for this weekend at Mississippi State have been postponed as the nation honors the memory of the victims of this week's attacks in New York and Washington, D.C.

Presidents of Southeastern Conference universities agreed Thursday to postpone weekend football games and other athletic events in a show of support and sympathy for those who suffered losses in this week's tragic incidents.

Scholarship Recognition Day, which introduces high-ability students to the university, will be scheduled for later in the fall.

Thursday at 8:30 p.m., MSU students will hold a memorial service on the university Drill Field.
