James V. "Bo" Hemphill IV is the new director of development for the College of Business and Industry at Mississippi State.

A Starkville native, Hemphill began his new duties in July. Most recently, he was development director for the university's College of Education, a position he held since joining the MSU Foundation last year. He is a 1994 marketing graduate of the business college.

"We are confident that Bo will do an outstanding job for business, just as he has done for education," said Richard Armstrong, executive director of development for the MSU Foundation. "Although he has moved into a new role, he will continue to assist the College of Education in a limited capacity until that position is filled."

Prior to joining the MSU staff, Hemphill held sales and marketing positions with Kenworth Truck Co. in Jackson, AFLAC Insurance/Lyon Insurance Agency in West Point and Action Industries in Tupelo.

His father, J.V. "Jim" Hemphill, was director of the MSU Development Foundation in the late 1980s.
