Two Gulf Coast students and two from Tennessee are completing internships this semester as part of Mississippi State's international business program.

A collaboration of the university's colleges of Arts and Sciences and Business and Industry, the IB major involves a double-degree curriculum, one in a business field and the other in a foreign language. Usually ranging from three to six months, the program's internships are required for graduation.

Seniors Jessica N. Merrill of Gulfport and Thomas R. Williams of Ocean Springs, along with James S. Dimick of Nashville and Nicholas H. Lee of Cookeville in the Volunteer State are among current interns. All began their assignments in January.

Merrill is working in Miami, Fla., with the Latin American/Caribbean division of FDX Corp. (formerly Federal Express), while Williams is in Gulfport with the Mississippi Foreign Trade Zone Office. Dimick and Lee are both in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., with the Latin American/Caribbean offices of Citigroup, an international diversified business services provider.

Merrill, whose internship concludes in June, is a marketing/Spanish double major and the daughter of Scott Merrill and Mr. and Mrs. Don Mason. A Mississippi State President's Scholar, she is a 1997 Gulfport High School graduate attending the university on an academic scholarship.

Williams, the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Williams and a 1997 Ocean Springs High School graduate, is a Spanish and management major. His internship concludes in April.

Dimick is a German/marketing double major who will work in Ft. Lauderdale through July. A 1997 graduate of Oakland High School in Murfreesboro, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul McCullough [1220 Brentwood Highway, 37211]. A President's Scholar and member of Phi Kappa Phi honor society, he is former president of the MSU International Business Club.

Lee, in Florida through June, is a Spanish and marketing major and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hayes Lee. He is a 1997 Cookeville High School graduate and MSU President's Scholar.
