STARKVILLE, Miss.--An English professor at the University of Notre Dame will be featured Thursday [Oct. 16] for the latest program of Mississippi State University's 2014-15 Humanities Distinguished Lecture Series.
Laura Knoppers' presentation is titled "'The Only Jewel I Covet' - Women, Display, and Luxury at the Court of Charles II." Free to all, her program begins at 3:30 p.m. in McCool Hall's Rogers Auditorium.
A Harvard University doctoral graduate, Knoppers is a specialist in 17th century British literature and early women writers. Before joining the Notre Dame faculty earlier this year, she was the Liberal Arts Research Professor of English at Pennsylvania State University.
In addition to authoring several books, she has edited or co-edited five essay collections. She currently is editor of Milton Studies, an annual journal published by Duquesne University Press. For more, see http://english.nd.edu/people/faculty/knoppers.
