Mississippi State University's Starkville and Meridian campuses will close at 12:30 p.m. today [April 29] due to a potentially dangerous weather situation this afternoon.
The National Weather Service reports a possibility for tornadic activity, hail, wind and heavy rains for central and east Mississippi.
Monitor news outlets and take every precaution for safety. If weather sirens sound, seek shelter immediately on the lowest interior level of a building and remain in a safe location.

MSU safe places to shelter on the Starkville campus include:
-- Colvard Student Union Dawg House, first floor
-- Mitchell Memorial Library, first floor
-- Sanderson Center
-- Humphrey Coliseum
Starkville campus dining and other facilities which will remain open include:
-- Perry Cafeteria, regular hours (open until 8 p.m.)
-- Colvard Student Union, P.O.D. and Starbucks only, regular hours (open until 8 p.m.). Other food court locations closed.
-- Burger King, regular hours (open until midnight).
All other dining locations will close when the university closes.
