A public program examining the new federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau will take place Oct. 11 at Mississippi State.

"Is the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Good for Consumers?" will be the title of a presentation by Todd J. Zywicki, George Mason University Foundation Professor of Law and a former teacher at Mississippi College.

The 1:30-3 p.m. program in 126 McCool Hall and a reception in his honor following in the McCool Hall atrium are free and open to all.

Additionally, a student roundtable discussion on credit card debt will be held at 11 a.m. - noon on the same day in 211 McCool.

The university's College of Business and its finance and economics department are sponsors of the events.
