Contact: Sammy McDavid

A major Mississippi State public service unit again is inviting Golden Triangle residents to "run it, walk it, roll it, stroll it, skate it, or even dance it."

Sept. 28, the university's T.K. Martin Center holds its 2013 Fun Run. The event begins with 8:15 a.m. registration at the facility adjoining the Longest Student Health Center at the Hardy and Morrill roads intersection. The run begins at 9 a.m.

Sponsored by Cadence Bank, the challenge welcomes participants of all ages to take on the one-mile course. If once isn't enough, repeating the loop a second or third time is encouraged.

Organized by the Martin Center staff and student members of the Day One service program, the fund-raising event benefits Project IMPACT, the Martin Center's early intervention program for pre-school children with special needs.

Admission tickets are $18 for individuals; $30 for an immediate family of two or more. Also, $10 raffle tickets will be available.

The T.K. Martin Center is a memorial to MSU's late vice president who led in making the campus more accessible to those with physical challenges. The facility provides comprehensive, multi-disciplinary evaluations to remove limitations through the application of assistive technology, allowing individuals to participate in educational, vocational and leisure activities to the fullest degree they choose.
