Mississippi State will celebrate Constitution Day with back-to-back lectures Sept. 17.
The Office of the Provost and Executive President and the political science and public administration department will sponsor a talk by University of Mississippi law professor Phillip Broadhead at 2 p.m. in the Mitchell Memorial Library Auditorium.
Also director of the Criminal Appeals Clinic at UM's School of Law, Broadhead received his bachelor's degree in political science at MSU and his juris doctor at the Mississippi College School of Law. He has more than 30 years of trial and appellate criminal litigation experience in Mississippi state courts from youth court cases to death penalty cases.

Liberty Fund Inc. senior fellow Steven Ealy will speak as part of the Institute for the Humanities' Distinguished Lecture Series. His 4 p.m. talk in the McCool Hall Taylor Auditorium will use a leading character from Robert Penn Warren's "All the King's Men" as a starting point to discuss the American constitutional tradition.
Ealy has published on the writings of Robert Penn Warren, along with the American Constitutional thought and the history of philanthropy. A doctoral graduate of the University of Georgia, he taught American government at colleges in the southeastern U.S. before joining Liberty Fund in 1993.
A division within the College of Arts and Sciences, the humanities institute's Distinguished Lecture Series is supported by a grant from the Apgar Foundation, along with the Office of Research and Economic Development.
