Several Mississippi State alumni are bringing American pride and Southern history to the 2013 Red Bull Flugtag in Dallas Sept. 21.
The Oxford-based Blue Delta Jeans Co. will sponsor a team at this yearâs Flugtag, an annual promotional extreme sport spoof where teams build homemade aircraft and fly into bodies of water around the world.
Team Blue Delta marks the first Mississippi team selected since the event began in 1992. Blue Deltaâs part owner and CEO Josh West received his masterâs degree in public policy and administration from MSU in 2006. Part owner Nick Weaver is a 2009 MSU history graduate, and the aircraftâs pilot, Reid Flowers, graduated from the university in 2011 with a bachelorâs degree in history.
While the aircraft they built resembles a vintage crop dusting plane, the body is actually an old-fashioned sewing machine.
