For the 12th time, the NCAA has selected Mississippi State's Dudy Noble Field as host of an NCAA Baseball Championship Regional.
"Our fans have consistently made Dudy Noble Field the premier college baseball destination in the country and it's great to bring an NCAA Regional back to them," head coach John Cohen said. "The kids on this team have fought all year and this is a great opportunity to start a new season in front of the nation's best college baseball fans."
Play begins Friday [May 31]. At 2 p.m., South Alabama and Mercer take the diamond. At 7 p.m., Mississippi State faces Central Arkansas.

NCAA security policy
The 2013 NCAA Baseball Championship is an NCAA event, hosted by MSU. As such, the university must comply with NCAA rules and regulations set forth for host institutions. Additional security measures from regular season games will be in place.
The NCAA Division I Baseball Committee states âArtificial noisemakers (air horns, cowbells, electronic instruments, etc.) are not permissible.â
It further says âno alcoholic beverages shall be delivered, sold or dispensed for public consumption anywhere in the competition venue, nor shall any such beverages be brought to the site during the championship (i.e., during the period from the time access is available to spectators until all patrons have left the stadium).â
As such, all bags and coolers brought to Polk-Dement Stadium are subject to search.
