STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State University Libraries and the university's Center for the History of Agriculture, Science, and the Environment of the South are receiving a $3,125 grant from Project Ceres.
The grant will be used to support the digitization of MSU Agriculture and Forestry Experiment Station Bulletins from 1898-1970. Once digitized, the materials will be available and full-text searchable online.
For this project, the libraries' Digital Preservation and Access Unit and the center have focused on materials of scholarly interest uniquely held at MSU.
CHASES was established as a research resource to attract and support scholars of the history of agriculture, rural life, science and the environment in the American South.
California-based Project Ceres is a collaboration among the United States Agricultural Information Network, Agriculture Network Information Center and Center for Research Libraries (CRL). It works to support small projects that preserve print materials essential to study of the history and economics of agriculture and make those materials accessible electronically through digitization.
