City's architectural history to be program topic

On Thursday [April 4], MSU Libraries hosts “Starkville’s Architecture Over the Years,” at 7 p.m., in the Grisham Room of Mitchell Memorial Library. Developed under the leadership of Paige Lawes and sponsored by the Greater Starkville Development Partnership, the event is one in a series on the history and evolution of Starkville and the surrounding areas.

Michelle Jones, a local preservation assistance coordinator for the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, will present on Starkville’s architectural history. Jones’ incentive for this program is to enlighten and inform the audience about the evolution of Starkville’s architecture over the years. Come see how Starkville’s oldest building helped mold our modern culture.

Future events in this series include memories of growing up in Oktoc, 10 miles south of Starkville; and stories about the relationship between Starkville and Mississippi State University.
