MS Horse Park hosts Rotary Rodeo, Paul Gallo Show

The SuperTalk Mississippi's Paul Gallo Show will be broadcast live Friday [Feb. 8], from 6-9 a.m. from the Mississippi Horse Park just south of the Mississippi State University campus. Guest scheduled to appear on the popular morning talk radio show include: MSU President Mark E. Keenum, MSU Extension Service Director Gary B. Jackson, rodeo announcer Andy Stewart, members of the Starkville Rotary Club, and Bricklee Miller, Director of the Mississippi Horse Park.

The live radio broadcast is open to the public. The rodeo will feature 266 contestants from 21 states and several foreign countries.

The broadcast is in conjunction with the Feb. 8-9 Starkville Rotary Classic Rodeo, a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) event, is the club’s largest fundraiser each year. Club members strive to not only make it an exciting event for everyone, but also to benefit the community by using the proceeds to fund college scholarships for area students.

This two-day event truly has something for every member of the family. For the youngsters there are pony rides and a petting zoo featuring chickens, calves, goats, and rabbits. Each night features two go-rounds of bull riding, steer wrestling, bareback riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding, and team roping. There promises to be non-stop rodeo action for two hours each night, with rodeo clowns performing throughout to keep audiences laughing and cowboys safe.

On Saturday night, pony rides and the petting zoo begin at 5 p.m. on the arena floor. This will last until 6:45 pm and is free with a general admission ticket to the rodeo for that night.

Discounted advanced tickets are on sale now at the following ticket outlets: Oktibbeha County Co-op, Tractor Supply Company and the GSDP office in Starkville, and Mitchell Automotive in West Point. Advanced tickets can be purchased for $12 for adults. Children 12 and under get in free on Friday (Kid's Night) and pay only $5 on Saturday.
