'Path for Engineering Career' seminar set Jan. 31
On Thursday [Jan. 31], the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) will hold its first seminar of the semester titled "The Path for an Engineering Professional Career: Challenges, Opportunities, and Personal Perspectives." It is at 5 p.m., in McCain Hall, Room 120.
The guest speaker is Jose Sanchez, PE, from San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is Deputy Director of the Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory (CHL) at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) in Vicksburg. Sanchez also has more than 10 years of experience as a research hydraulic engineer and has served as a consultant in several international research efforts. He is the president of the Mississippi Professional Chapter of the SHPE. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, respectively, and is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute.
