Study abroad over Spring Break 2013 in Brazil

A meeting will be held Wednesday [Oct. 10], at 4 p.m., in McCool Hall Room 202 for students interested in a 2013 Spring Break Study Abroad trip to Brazil. Ever wondered how eco-tourism works? Learn firsthand about this rapidly growing industry and do so in the Amazon rainforest. We will visit Presidente Figueiredo Amazonas, traverse the Amazon River to an eco-lodge and learn about the marketing and operation of global tourism destination marketing.
Tourism marketing in Brazil is a huge industry, both in the Amazon region and in Rio de Janeiro. In addition to the Amazon, participants will visit one of the new 7 wonders of the world, Christ the Redeemer. Learn about how culture and business are intertwined in Brazil, one of the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) countries; newly developed economic powers.
Another key growth industry in Brazil is the energy sector. The trip also will include site visits to Petrobras, the No. 1 energy company in South America and to the No. 1 manufacturer of subsea offshore drilling platforms.
All majors are welcome. This is open to both undergraduate and graduate students for 3 credit hours.
