STARKVILLE, Miss.--Continuing from the fall semester, Mississippi State's music department is offering individual non-credit piano lessons to students in the Starkville community.

A limited number of spring semester slots remain available.

Faculty members in the university's music department are overseeing the individual lessons given by MSU junior and senior piano majors.

Lessons will take place in Music Building A, located on Morrill Road across from the T.K. Martin Center parking lot. The curriculum follows requirements of the Mississippi Music Teachers Association, state division of the Music Teachers National Association.

"This program allows us to train our students, as well as provide piano lessons to our community," said associate professor Rosangela Y. Sebba.

Participants in the 12-week program may choose between either a one-hour lesson or two half-hour lessons weekly. Lessons will begin after Monday's [Jan. 16] Martin Luther King Jr. national holiday.

The $250 tuition paid in full at registration includes $20 per lesson, plus a $10 registration fee for expenses related to administration and the semester recital. Other details are available at www.music.msstate.edu/pdf/areas/piano/piano_lessons.pdf.

The program does not apply to MSU students, faculty and staff. Those interested in piano lessons should register for MUA 1010 for non-majors. The credit-hour lessons are given weekly by adjunct faculty with a semester fee.
