STARKVILLE, Miss.--A new composition by a Mississippi State alumnus will be featured Tuesday [Nov.] 8 during the university's Wind Ensemble Fall Concert.

"Untamed Fantasy" by Justin F. Crenshaw will premiere at the 7:30 p.m. free program in Lee Hall's Bettersworth Auditorium. Formerly of Winona, Crenshaw received a music education degree earlier this year and currently is studying composition at the University of Kentucky.

Music by other composers, including H. Owen Reed, Percy Grainger and Michael Daugherty, also will be featured.

Director of bands Elva Kaye Lance will conduct and Craig Aarhus, associate director of bands, will be a guest conductor.

"The music will depict some of the world's most scenic vistas including a musical presentation of the Zugspitze, the highest peak in the German Alps, and a musically energetic tribute of Niagara Falls," Aarhus said.

"Musical expressions of folk music from Mexico to Denmark will round out the program," he added.
