STARKVILLE, Miss.— Bulldog fans of all ages are welcome to Davis Wade Stadium Thursday [Sept. 14] for Mississippi State’s seventh annual Cowbell Yell pep rally.

Free to all, the 9 p.m. event is sponsored by the MSU Student Association and Department of Athletics. Fans are encouraged to bring their cowbells and enter through Gate F at the northwest corner of Davis Wade Stadium starting at 8 p.m.

Among others, this year’s pep rally will feature appearances by new play-by-play announcer Neil Price, former MSU football player Anthony Dixon, the Famous Maroon Band, MSU football coaches and MSU spirit groups.

The event will be hosted by Matt Wyatt, former MSU quarterback and SuperTalk Mississippi sports radio host, and Bob Carskadon, HailStateBEAT digital media reporter.

“Cowbell Yell is one of the most exciting events the Student Association puts on every year,” MSU SA President Tyler McMurray said. “For many freshmen and transfer students, it’s the first time they get to hear the sweet sound of cowbells in Davis Wade Stadium. Having the opportunity to provide that experience at an event like Cowbell Yell is a true honor.”

The first 500 individuals in attendance will receive free T-shirts.

Additionally, 1,000 free custom 2017 Cowbell Yell decals will be given away courtesy of The Year of the Cowbell, a Calhoun City-based company that manufactures the “Official Cowbell of MSU Athletics.”

MSU will provide a history lesson on the tradition of the cowbell. During Cowbell Yell 2015, MSU broke the Guinness World Record for the most fans ringing cowbells simultaneously.

Fans can purchase Maroon Memories experiences for Cowbell Yell, including early entry passes and photos with featured speakers. Learn more at hailstate.com/memories.
