A Sept. 14 evening event sponsored by the Student Association and Athletics will officially kick off the home football season for Mississippi State.
The first-ever "Cowbell Yell" begins at 10 p.m. in Davis Wade Stadium, culminating with a 10:45 p.m. fireworks display expected to last approximately 15 minutes.
"We're thrilled to be working with the Athletic Department to create this new event, which we hope will become an annual tradition for students," said Rhett Hobart, Student Association president.
Two surprise guests will emcee the evening's festivities, he said.
