Today, MSU President Mark E. Keenum and other administrative and faculty leaders will formally announce the next selection for the university's 2011 Maroon Edition common reading program.
The 2 p.m. public program in the John Grisham Room of Mitchell Memorial Library will be followed by a reception. Compliments of the president, a free copy of the book will be given to the first 50 individuals who sign in.
In addition, limited-edition prints illustrating elements of the book will be presented to two audience members selected randomly.
In a departure from previous book selections, this year's Maroon Edition features a major work by a Pulitzer-Prize winning Mississippi author. Literary scholar and MSU English professor emeritus Noel Polk will be among those discussing the book's significance.
