Mississippi State has planned several electrical power outages this year to install new equipment that will enhance future service and maintenance options on the campus power grid.
The next planned outage will take place Wednesday, May 5, 3-5 a.m. During the early morning outage, the Facilities Management electrical crew will perform another phase in the ongoing project of installing additional high-voltage switches on the main transformers in the campus substation. Also, the Starkville Electric Department will accomplish similar work in the city's switchyard on one of the circuits that supplies the campus substation. Both of these procedures are necessary to facilitate maintenance and increase service reliability.
