STARKVILLE, Miss.--Groundbreaking for an $875,000 expansion of the Wesley Foundation Center at Mississippi State will be held Saturday [Sept. 6], several hours prior to the university's first home football game.

A reception follows the 11 a.m. public ceremony, also at the 1172 East Lee Boulevard facility (located adjacent to the Campus Bookmart).

A ministry of the United Methodist Church, the MSU Wesley Foundation is expanding by 6,500-square-feet a building that opened in 1963. Chris Cosper of Cosper and Associates in Starkville is the architect; Weathers Construction of Columbus, the contractor.

The expansion is being made possible with support from more than 250 donors. Gifts and pledges to the ongoing Pressing On Capital Campaign total more than $1 million.

MSU opens the 2008 campus football season at 6 p.m. in a game with Southeastern Louisiana University at Davis Wade Stadium.
