On Monday, July 21, ITS will implement changes designed to make NetPasswords more secure. Currently, NetPasswords must have a minimum of 5 characters and a maximum of 8 characters and must include at least one number or special character. The change will increase the NetPassword's minimum length to 8 characters and the maximum to 15 characters and will require inclusion of at least two numbers and/or special characters.
Beginning on July 21, all new NetPasswords will adhere to these new rules. Approximately one year hence, people who have a NetPassword that has not been changed to meet the minimum requirements will be required to choose a new, longer NetPassword.
