The university has been notified that TVA is in a Power System Alert and a Transmission Alert. They have begun implementation of a load curtailment plan. They are currently in their "inhouse" load curtailment phase. However, if TVA were to lose generation capacity Mississippi State might be impacted. Please continue to conserve energy where practical. It takes a very small amount of energy to cause a large generator to trip off line when it exceeds its capacity. Please take reasonable precautions, back up computer work and take action to protect any projects that might be in danger should we lose total or partial campus power. This heat situation is estimated to continue throughout the weekend and into next week. Please assist us in shutting off any energy-using device that you can.
