STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State will show third- through sixth-grade students how food goes from the farm to the kitchen table during a weeklong June day camp.
Beginning on the 25th and utilizing cooking exercises, games and field trips, the university's department of food science, nutrition and health promotion will demonstrate the food production process.
"Fun with Food," which takes place 8 a.m.-5 p.m. daily, will include farm tours and activities that help develop mathematics, reading and time management skills.
June 1 is the registration deadline.
Leading the programs will be nutrition specialist Sylvia Byrd, an associate professor in the department, and Roland Parny, MSU's executive chef for dining services and a veteran of more than 45 years of culinary experience.
The $150 registration fee includes snacks and lunch over the five-day period.
