The Mississippi State chapter of the National Association of Industrial Technology is the first-place winner among more than 80 entries in 2004 U.S. student competition.

Also, chapter member Garland T. Green of Booneville, a senior industrial technology major at the university, finished first in the individual ranking among contest participants at the recent NAIT convention in Louisville, Ky. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Green.

Industrial technology is the field of study designed to prepare students for technical and management careers in business, industry, education, and government. NAIT is the professional organization for, among other responsibilities, promoting and accrediting IT academic programs at universities, colleges and technical institutes.

MSU and other students at the Kentucky meeting were tested on a variety of subjects, including management, technology, manufacturing, construction, graphic communication, power and energy, and electronics and computers.
