Five orientation sessions will be held at Mississippi State during June for freshmen and transfer students enrolling this fall at the university.
Three two-day programs for freshmen and two one-day programs for transfer students are scheduled. In addition to advance class scheduling, students--and their parents--will have the opportunity to meet faculty members and administrators, as well as students already enrolled.
Last year's total attendance of more than 4,500 set a campus record for the orientation program.
Dates of the two-day 2001 freshman sessions are June 9 and 10, 14 and 15, and 23 and 24. Transferring students should plan to visit June 8 and 22. Parents attend separate, concurrent sessions on these days.
"We strongly encourage all new students to take advantage of orientation," said Kristi V. Brown, assistant director of enrollment services. "These sessions have proven to be a time-efficient way for high school and community college graduates and their parents to become quickly familiar with the Mississippi State and Starkville communities."
