A Mississippi State senior from Clinton is being honored by the international professional organization for industrial engineers.

Breck Stringer received the second place award in the Institute of Industrial Engineering's 2001 Student Award for Excellence competition.

Scheduled to complete his MSU studies in December, Stringer is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Stringer and a 1997 Clinton High School graduate. He is a President's Scholar and a College of Engineering Diversified Technology Scholar.

In addition to a plaque, Stringer received a $200 check from Armstrong World Industries, a Lancaster, Pa.-based manufacturer of floors and ceilings and major supporter of IIE activities.

Presentation of the award took place earlier this week at the institute's Industrial Engineering Solutions Conference in Dallas, Texas.

Founded in 1948, IIE has more than 17,000 members spread among the United States and some 80 other countries.
