Presentation of a research report at an international engineering conference recently resulted in a top honor for a Mississippi State University graduate student.
Stephen W. Ormon of Pascagoula received the 2001 Stan Ofthsun Award at the Reliability and Maintainability Symposium in Philadelphia, Pa. The award, which is accompanied by a $1,000 check, recognizes a presenter's success in communicating information to the audience.
The symposium is sponsored by 10 professional societies, among them the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Society of Automotive Engineers and Society of Logistic Engineers. The annual meeting brings together worldwide specialists in the application of scientific knowledge to assure that commercial products perform their intended functions for the required duration.
Ormon co-authored the report with Allen Greenwood, an MSU associate professor of industrial engineering, and former faculty member Richard Cassady.
A magna cum laude MSU graduate in industrial engineering, Ormon is pursuing a master's in the same field. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Ormon and a 1994 Pascagoula High School graduate.
