A member of the Professional Golf Association Tour will conduct a free golf clinic Wednesday [March 7] at Mississippi State.
Stewart Cink of Atlanta, Ga., a five-year PGA tour veteran, will lead the 1:30-3 p.m. public program at the University Golf Course, which is located three miles east of campus on U.S. Highway 182.
A Georgia native, Cink joined the professional golfing ranks in 1995 after graduating from the Georgia Institute of Technology. His PGA Tour victories to date include the 1997 Canon Greater Hartford Open and the 2000 MCI Classic.
While at MSU, he also will meet with students, administrators and faculty members involved with the PGA-sanctioned professional golf management program offered through the College of Business and Industry.
Additionally, he will visit with area junior high school students participating in "Science on the Green," a new MSU summer teaching program made possible by a grant from the United States Golf Association. Begun last June, the program teaches the fundamentals of golf while introducing the students to scientific concepts in physics, the environmental sciences and several other academic fields.
