Two Mississippi State graduate students are being recognized for research achievements by a major poultry science body.

Holly M. Parker of Maben and Jeanetta D. Tankson of Rolling Fork received first-place awards at the 2001 International Poultry Scientific Forum for reports detailing their separate laboratory investigations. Parker is pursuing a master's degree in poultry science, while Tankson is working toward a doctorate in animal physiology.

Parker won in the environment and management category; Tankson, in the pathology category.

Held this year in Atlanta, Ga., the forum is a worldwide gathering of researchers and others in the field sponsored by the Southern Poultry Science Association, Southern Conference of Avian Diseases and the United States Poultry and Egg Association.

Parker, who completed her bachelor's degree at Hastings (Neb.) College, is the wife of Sonny Parker.

Tankson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Tankson, received a bachelor's degree at MSU and a master's at Jackson State University.
