Two Mississippi State faculty artists will feature music with an international flair in a Sunday [March 25] public concert at the university.
Music education department flutist Lana Johns and percussionist Robert J. Damm will perform a range of pieces reflecting a shared interest in world music. Their program begins at 3 p.m. in the Bettersworth Auditorium of Giles Hall.
The repertoire of chamber pieces and solo selections will include Asian-inspired numbers, Japanese festival rhythms, folk-dance instrumental pieces, and music reminiscent of rain forest atmospheres.
Also scheduled is "Caribbean Sketch No. 2," a showcase piece for steel pans written especially for the duo by departmental colleague Mark Francis.
