A Mississippi State faculty duo will present a public concert Oct. 12 in the university's Bettersworth Auditorium.

Sponsored by the music education department, the 7:30 p.m. performance features new department head Michael Brown on trumpet and veteran professor Joel M. Harrison on piano. They will perform musical selections including the baroque "Sonata for Trumpet" by Domenico Gabrielli, "J.N. Hummel Trumpet Concerto" transcribed for trumpet and piano and "Kent Kennan Sonata for Trumpet and Piano."

Harrison will perform solo the "Prelude in G minor" by Sergei Rachmaninoff and the "Fantasy in F minor" by Scott Robbins.

Sherri Falcone, a music education lecturer, will join Harrison and Brown on Walter Hartley's "Two Dances for Trumpet, Clarinet and Piano."

While there is no concert admission charge, donations are encouraged to support the department's continuing musical programs.

Among them will be an Oct. 24 program featuring selections of American Neo-Classical composer Samuel Barber.
