Over the next three months, Mississippi State University is sponsoring its annual series of Mississippi and Louisiana seminars to update farmers and small business owners on current tax issues.
Each of the seven programs will explain recent federal tax legislation, update significant issues and developments in federal taxation, provide a comprehensive review of 2000 federal tax events, and provide a working knowledge of selected small business, individual and farm tax issues.
Sponsored by the College of Business and Industry's Division of Business Services, the daylong sessions will be led by accounting professors Zoel W. Daughtrey and Frank M. Messina of MSU, along with Daryl V. Burckel of McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La.
Seminar dates and locations include:
Oct. 31-Nov. 1, Starkville, MSU Engineering Research Center (Mississippi Research and Technology Park);
Nov. 2-3, Olive Branch, Whispering Woods (East Goodman Rd.);
Nov. 7-8, Hammond, La., Holiday Inn Conference Center;
Nov. 9-10, Monroe, La., Holiday Inn Holidome;
Nov. 14-15, Raymond, Hinds Community College's Eagle Ridge Conference Center;
Nov. 16-17, Cleveland, Delta State University's Ewing Hall; and
Dec. 12-13, Gulfport's Grand Casino Resort.
A $200 seminar registration fee covers materials, instructions and refreshments.
