An Oct. 9-13 Occupational Safety and Health Administration skills course at Mississippi State will focus on recognizing and correcting workplace hazards and performing safety audits.
Offered through the university's Division of Continuing Education, the intensive, weeklong program will provide an overview of regulations that govern most workplaces.
Sept. 25 is the registration deadline. Formally known as OSHA 501, the course has no enrollment prerequisites.
Through a cooperative agreement with Texas A&M University--a leader in OSHA-based training--MSU was first in the state to offer the training in June. The Starkville university now is designated as a local course provider.
Persons completing the certification will hold the title of general industry outreach program trainer and be qualified to teach OSHA's 10- and 30-hour general safety and health outreach courses.
For additional information or to enroll, telephone Amy Vickery at (662) 325-0705 or Ben Rosenkrans at 325-2650.
