The Mississippi State University Television Center holds eight top awards in the educational category of the recent 2000 Mississippi Association of Broadcasters competition.
Honored more than any other university, programs produced at MSU earned three gold and five silver awards. The productions and staff members who developed them include:
--"MSU On-Air," a gold for best program/entertainment, created by Ralph Olivieri, produced by Curtis Martin and hosted by Shannon Harmon.
--"Remote Sensing," a gold for best public service announcement, narrated by Alex Brown, produced and edited by LaMont Berger.
--"Great River Road," a gold for best public service program/series, narrated by Alex Brown, produced and edited by LaMont Berger.
--"MSU Football with Jackie Sherrill," a silver for best sport coverage, directed by Bennie Ashford.
--"ROTC at Mississippi State," a silver for best public service, narrated by Alex Brown, produced and edited by Bret Hillard and Alex Brown.
--"Insight," a silver for best public service program/series, produced by Bret Hillard.
--"Mark Applebaum Trio," a silver for best public service program or series, graphics animation by Paula Hindman.
--"MSU Roadrunners 20th Reunion," a silver for best program/entertainment, produced and edited by Steve Carver and Bret Hillard.
