Two members of Mississippi State's English faculty will read selections from their published works April 25 at the university's Mitchell Memorial Library.

The 8 p.m. public program features James P. Wilcox, distinguished visiting professor of creative writing, and Richard Lyons, director of creative writing.

A Yale University graduate, Wilcox is author of seven books, including "Plain and Normal," "Modern Baptists" and "North Gladiola." He also has served as a book reviewer for the New York Times Book Review, Los Angeles Times Book Review, Elle, and other national publications.

Lyons' selections will come from his recently published book of poems, "Hour of the Cardinal." A past winner of the Academy of American Poets' Peter Lavan Younger Poets Award, his works have been published in a variety of publications, including the Paris Review, New Republic, and Gettysburg Review.
