Ten juniors and seniors at Mississippi State University hold the top honors of a recent regional competition sponsored by the American Society of Landscape Architecture.
The student challenge involved development of a site improvement plan for a Gulf Coast resort. The intensive, four-hour design project was part of the ASLA's recent tri-state regional meeting in Bay St. Louis.
Jurors representing society chapters in Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana selected first-, second- and third-place winners from among a total of eight teams.
The winning MSU landscape architecture majors include (by hometown):

COLUMBUS-Junior Chris M. Cox, first place.
KENNER, La.-Senior Christopher Blanchard, first place.
MEMPHIS, Tenn.-Junior Marissa A. Mulhern, second place.
STARKVILLE-Seniors Meri A. Starks and Brian D. Templeton, both first place; and Christopher S. Pace and John Paul Portera, both second place.
NEW ALBANY-Junior Patrick M. Hickman, third place.
