Bruce Crain
R. Bruce Crain of Mississippi State is serving this year as president of the Mississippi Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators.
Director of the university's department of student financial aid and scholarships, he heads a state organization of some 200 members representing public universities and community colleges, private colleges, proprietary institutions, and others in the student-loan lending field.
Crain is a 1970 Starkville High School graduate who holds MSU bachelor's degrees in accounting and business management, and a master's in higher education administration. He also is a graduate of the University of Kentucky Business Management Institute.
He was associate director of student financial aid at MSU for five years before being named director in 1997.
Prior to assuming the state association's top office, Crain held the offices of president-elect and newsletter editor. He earlier served two terms as an at-large member of the organization.
Among other current professional activities, Crain chairs the Mississippi American College Test Council and is a member of the Mississippi Higher Education Assistance Corp. and the Mississippi USA Group Advisory Council.
