School district representatives from throughout the state and region will be at Mississippi State April 11 to discuss available positions with May and August education graduates.

The university's College of Education and Career Services Center again are teaming to host Education Interview Day at the Bost Extension Center auditorium. This year, more than 200 seniors are scheduled to take part in approximately 600 interviews.

For the second year, potential employers can view students' resumes and post job openings through the career center's Internet Web Employer. The free service is available at http://www.career.msstate.edu.

MSU currently is the state's only university or college employing Internet technology to help unite school districts and graduates. Education Dean William Graves said the service is an important key in helping the state reduce its teacher shortage.

"A district with a teacher shortage can go to the MSU site, locate and review students' resumes, then set up appointments to discuss employment opportunities," he said.

Luther Epting, career center director, said the Web Employer gives a distinct advantage to both education professionals and MSU student users.

"We are working very hard to become a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week operation, and Web Employer allows that," he said. "An employer in any field can access resumes at any time during the year."

Once students have registered with the program, their resumes are placed in the computer system for six months or until the center is notified of employment. Once the half-year period has expired, the new university graduates may maintain the posting for another six months by paying a $25 fee.
